When you should call us straight away

Sparks or burning smell

Isolate at the consumer unit if it's safe to do so, then call us straight away. This is a serious fire risk.

Total power loss

Check your neighbours first — if it's your house alone, it's a circuit or supply fault. Call us before food spoils or the heating fails in winter.

Exposed live wiring

Building work damage, rodent damage, water ingress. Don't touch — make the area safe and call us. We isolate the circuit and assess.

RCD that won't reset

Means there's a real earth fault on the circuit. Sometimes it's a simple appliance, sometimes it's a real wiring fault. We diagnose without guessing.

Fire alarm fault

For commercial premises a beeping or non-functioning fire alarm is both a safety issue and a compliance one. We can usually attend within 4 hours.

Heat / smoke from socket

Switch off at the consumer unit immediately. Don't unplug. Call us — this is a serious fire risk that often indicates loose connections behind the socket.

What's not an emergency

We don't want to charge emergency callout rates for things that can wait. Out of fairness:

  • A single ring main off — usually the kettle or hairdryer caused an RCD trip. Try resetting before calling.
  • One light not working — bulb, fitting or switch. Routine job, not emergency.
  • A consumer unit that needs upgrading. Important, but not urgent.
  • An EICR that came back unsatisfactory. You have 28 days. We'll book you in routinely.

For non-urgent work please use the quote form or call during business hours and we'll book a normal appointment without callout fees.
