Rewiring — done cleanly, signed off properly
A rewire is the biggest single electrical job most homeowners ever commission. We work room-by-room with dust sheets, lift floorboards rather than chase walls where we can, and finish to plaster-ready (or plastered) standard. Every rewire ships with a NAPIT certificate, Building Control notification and a 6-year workmanship warranty.
- Fresh twin-and-earth cabling throughout
- New 18th-edition consumer unit with RCBOs
- Modern socket layout (USB sockets if requested)
- Smoke alarms hardwired and interlinked (Part 6 compliant)
- Bathroom IP-rated fittings, kitchen RCD-protected appliances
- NAPIT certificate + Building Control notification
Homeowners with rubber or fabric cabling (1960s and earlier), properties with metal-clad consumer units, anyone planning a major refurb, landlords bringing older stock up to spec, and buyers whose EICR came back unsatisfactory.
A typical 3-bed rewire takes 4–5 working days. We try to keep one ring main live for kettle and fridge throughout, and we block-book plasterers if you want chase-and-make-good rather than visible surface conduit.
If your property is a listed building or in a conservation area we work to NAPIT's heritage guidance — minimum-disruption routing, original socket positions retained where regulations allow, and we keep all paperwork for the BCO.
Frequently asked
How long does a house rewire take?
3-bed semi: 4–5 working days. 4-bed detached: 5–8 days. Small flat: 2–3 days. We can usually keep one ring main live throughout so kettle, fridge and lighting work from day 1.
Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Most clients stay in. We isolate one room at a time and clear up at the end of every day. If you have small children or work from home we can plan the noisy days around your schedule.
Will a rewire damage my plaster?
There will be some chasing in walls — we try to drop cables down from the ceiling void rather than cut into walls where possible. We can deliver "chase-and-fill" (rough-filled, ready for your decorator) or fully plastered to skim-ready standard.
Do I need to tell Building Control?
Yes — a rewire is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. As NAPIT-registered contractors we self-certify and submit the Building Control notification on your behalf, included in the price.
Can I get a partial rewire?
Yes. If only the upstairs cabling is past its life, or only the kitchen circuits need updating for new appliances, we can scope a partial rewire that leaves serviceable cabling in place. We'll EICR test the existing wiring and certify the new work.
